Follow-up visit to a Vietnamese customer from 12 years ago
Recently, I went on a business trip to Bac Ninh, Vietnam. During the trip, I also paid a visit to an old Vietnamese client. This client ordered a set of our scraper-type sandblasting rooms in 2014.

The scraper-type sandblasting room is a sandblasting operation equipment that automatically recovers sand materials through an air-driven scraper system. It is particularly suitable for handling heavy workpieces and continuous batch production. Its core design is a floor with a scraper conveyor, where the fallen sand directly falls onto it and is then pushed away and recycled by the scraper, unlike traditional pneumatic sand recovery which relies on fans for suction. Therefore, it is more energy-efficient, less prone to clogging, and less susceptible to wet sand.
The working principle and core components of the scraper-type sandblasting room
The entire system is like an automated continuous production line, mainly consisting of the following parts:
Sandblasting operation: Operators use sandblasting guns to treat the surface of workpieces in a sealed room.
Sand material recovery: This is the core of the scraper-type. The scattered sand falls onto the grate plate and is pushed to the sand collection tank by the scraper conveyor, then sent to the elevator.
Sand material purification: The recovered sand is purified by a vibrating screen and a cyclone separator to remove dust and impurities. The qualified sand is recycled and the separation efficiency can reach over 95%.
Dust removal and environmental protection: Equipped with pulse bag dust collectors and other equipment to ensure that the dust emission concentration meets the standards.
Key features and advantages of the scraper-type sandblasting room
High efficiency and durability: Strong sand recovery capacity, capable of easily handling heavy grinding materials such as steel sand; simple mechanical structure with few fault points and stable operation.
Energy-saving and economic: Compared to pneumatic sand recovery, the operating energy consumption can be reduced by more than 50%, and the long-term usage cost advantage is obvious.
Adaptability: Can adapt to different grinding materials and is not afraid of humid environments; the number of sand guns can be flexibly increased to meet different efficiency requirements.
Intelligent and convenient: Intelligent equipment can automatically adjust the operating speed and energy consumption, saving 20%-30% energy, and can issue early warnings for maintenance to reduce downtime.
Key performance parameters of the scraper-type sandblasting room
Understanding these parameters can help you select the right model based on your own needs:
Room size: Determined by the maximum size of the workpiece, such as 12m×5m×4m.
Recovery capacity: The scraper conveyor's conveying capacity is usually 5-20 m³/h, which needs to be matched with the total sandblasting volume.
Sandblasting efficiency: For treating SA2.5 grade rusted surfaces, the efficiency can reach 5-15 m²/h per sand gun.
Compressed air: A pressure source of 0.5-0.8 MPa needs to be provided, and the air consumption per sand gun is approximately 1.5-3 m³/min.
Dust removal air volume: The room needs to ensure 10-15 air changes per hour.
Emission standards: The dust emission concentration is usually ≤10-12 mg/m³, and the noise outside the room is ≤85 dB(A).
Applicable scenarios:
The scraper-type sandblasting room is particularly suitable for these scenarios:
Heavy machinery manufacturing: Handling large and heavy workpieces.
Steel structures/ships: High-strength rust removal operations with large sand material usage.
Batch production: Such as automotive parts, requiring continuous and uninterrupted operation. Summary
Overall, the scraper-type sandblasting room, with its high recovery efficiency, low operating costs and strong adaptability to various working conditions, has become the mainstream choice in current large-scale workpiece, heavy abrasive, and continuous batch production scenarios. If your project places greater emphasis on stability and long-term economic benefits, and the workpieces to be processed are heavy and large, the scraper-type would be an ideal option.
The 12-year-old scraper-type sandblasting room users are still operating normally and have received high praise from customers for their excellent equipment maintenance capabilities.
